Suzuki Katana - rear/side view
This bike started its life as a 1988 suzuki katana 1100 f. That's what we call it in Canada elsewhere it is known as a gsx1100f ''power screen''. The bike is incredibly fast but was not impressed with the weight and original looks of the bike. So being the mechanic that I am (hate chrome pretty bikes) I started by removing all farings and powerscreen. I then gave a nice thorough coating of flat black of course. This is when I got the idea to go rat/army bike. I removed the dual seat and turned it into a solo seat with camo seat cover material I found at the army surplus store. I also added the 7.62 mm ammo side bags which allowed me to mount my trailer lights (functions as tail, turn and license plate light). Added gaiters to the front forks. A ten inch speaker cover for a blackout on the headlight, also added another lamp just below the headlight for additional lighting. Fork brace as a front fender. World war 2 allied bomber tach added (found in wreckage at crash site). Speedometer is off a GN125 which shows a top speed of 120k/m per hr. This gets easily buried as this bike will just get over 250k/m per hr... Accel coils were painted camo green to look the part. Cargo netting on the tank holds down my "x" pattern of 7.62 ammo on the tank which is also secured by rare earth magents to the tank. I also found a 1933 liscense plate that was quite rusty! great! didn't change it one bit and is now the rear fender. Had alot of fun building it and more fun bombing it around town.
